The Jack Cole Dancers' Club Act event photo

The Jack Cole Dancers' Club Act

Monday June 24th

Immerse yourself in a unique evening at the Mastercard Midnight Theatre, where The Jack Cole Dancers will present the inaugural performance of their Club Act. This act is not just a performance but a journey through the historical and cultural roots and evolution of Jazz Dance, all seen through the lens of one of its most formidable pioneers, Jack Cole.

Reflective of Cole’s original nightclub act, the show transports you to a scintillating 1930s Jazz club, offering an immersive dive into various dynamic and thrilling Jazz and Theater Dance pieces choreographed in the style of Cole’s Broadway, Film, and Nightclub work.

Step back in time to a century ago, when dance innovator Jack Cole revolutionized New York and Chicago’s nightclub scene with a new, titillating style of entertainment. Cole’s unique fusion of world dance styles and jazz music paved the way for much of the popular Jazz and Theater dance we see today, including the work of iconic legends Bob Fosse and Jerome Robbins.

Now, a century later, Cole’s spirit is coming to life once again; choreographer Camden Loeser’s company, The Jack Cole Dancers, brings work in the style of Cole’s original Club Act back to Manhattan’s nightlife. Prepare to be thrilled as you experience the magic of Cole’s world in this provocative and enlightening evening of jazz music and dance!

Glen David Andrews event photo

Glen David Andrews

Friday July 5th

Glen David Andrews's commanding voice and fierce trombone sound – both a powerful, emotional, and resonant blend of smoothness and grit – as well as his disarmingly honest manner provide a musical experience that never fails to meet the moment. Glen’s music is packed with beauty, hard-earned truths, compassion, humor, anger, joy, and – most of all – hope.

Glen comes from a storied and extended family of musicians. He was born in New Orleans’ historic Tremé neighborhood, which many consider to be the oldest Black community in the United States. Transfixed by the magic and mystery of the city’s second-line parades, Andrews and his older brother, Derrick Tabb of the Rebirth Brass Band, along with their younger cousin Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, learned the history of the brass band tradition firsthand from iconic figures like Tuba Fats. Glen has been touring since the age of 14, performing in cities around the world. He has played in New Birth, Lil Rascals, and Tremé brass bands, bringing equal measures of musicianship and showmanship to each.

He now fronts his own high-powered ensemble that expertly fuses traditions ranging from jazz to gospel to rock to blues and to funk, all in the same show, sometimes in the same song!

In recent years, he earned prestigious recognition and began making headliner status at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, considered the world’s biggest block party the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Glen has also made notable appearances at the Voodoo Music Experience, Chicago Folk and Roots Festival, Houston International Festival, The Lincoln Center, Joe’s Pub, House of Blues Nola, Tipitina’s, and Kansas City’s American Jazz Museum. Glen has released several recordings under his own name including the popular “Redemption” and “Portrait of the Treme Prince” and is featured on the Galactic hit “You Don’t Know” from the album Ya-Ka-May.
